yesterday we were just children
but now we’ve stepped into a cruel world
Every hour, a supernatural teen gets hunted down and murdered. But thanks to donors like you, three thousand sexy teens were rescued last year. For hundreds of others, help never showed up. If you don’t call this number, you’re a murderer. 1-800-STOP-KILLING-SEXY-TEENS-YOU-GUYS.
No, I’m sorry but this is unacceptably tone deaf right now. The ENTIRE world is watching because an unarmed black teen was shot SIX TIMES in broad daylight by police. This is an unnaceptable parody of the treatment of black (and other youth of color) by law enforcement officials.
A young man is dead for the crime of being black and we (Teen Wolf fandom) have decided that it is acceptable to create parodies based on this tragedy? That it is okay to joke about a charity hotline to save (fictional) supernatural teens when REAL LIFE TEENS are being racially profiled, harassed, and killed by law enforcement authorities.
I understand that fantasy often serves an allegorical purposes but this is an example of allegory gone terribly wrong.
Adding to the offensive are the cutesy faces in the gifs of Posey and Sprayberry. Given the tragedy of Mike Brown, this is an unnaceptable parody of the horror of his death, and the death of other young people of color at the hands of law enforcement officials. Children of color are people, they are children. This gifset, this joke dehumanizes them. It treats their lives and deaths as less than. There are young men holding signs in the streets of Ferguson that say “Stop Killing Us” and you are going to create this bullshit now? Because it is funny to trivialize the lives of black people? HAHAHAHA. It’s funny because it is fucking racist.
Here is where you can donate to help feed the children of Ferguson, MO.
ETA: This is apparently based on a segment on the after after show. I am horrified that MTV did not edit this out given the current issues and discussions regarding violence against young people of color.
Yeah I’m not laughing.
Alternate Universe (?) in which Allison Argent gets a real funeral
*laughs and cries hysterically*
no but seriously
Teen Wolf AU: Scott sees Allison in his dream.
"Why are we asking them to fight these kinds of fights?"
"Because otherwise we’d be asking them to run and hide."
