physically attractive people literally lose all their appeal to me when they’re assholes
A catcall is entirely about reminding you that you are not yours. The purity myth is entirely about reminding you that you are not yours. The fetishization of female purity in a world where catcalls are an acceptable form of communication telegraphs one thing very clearly:
“Women, stop sexualizing yourselves—that’s our job, and you’re taking all the fun out of it.”
The sexualization of women is only appealing if it’s nonconsensual. Otherwise it’s “sluttiness,” and sluttiness is agency and agency is threatening.❞
casual reminder that for every person who doesn’t want to label their sexuality there’s another person who prefers the tangibility of a word and both are ok
Cas loves Sam
Cas loves Dean
Dean loves Sam
Dean loves Cas
Sam loves Dean
Sam loves Cas
They all love each other and would do anything for each other
Be it familial, friends, lovers
It doesn’t matter
They all love each other
End of discussion
None of them hate each other
They would kill for each other
They would die for each other
They would sacrifice everything for each other
they’ve proven this on many occasions so team free will
man, if we could get allies to care as much about real people in need as they do fictional characters we’d be set
#don’t do it for klaine or dumbledore or sterek; do it for LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING BECAUSE THEIR BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS ARE SEE #*SEEN AS BEING NEGIOTABLE #why is this a difficult concept to grasp?????????
Why be stressed out over Cas and Meg? Why use words like “Queerbaiting” and “heteronormative” and persist in see the actor’s physical bodies? Instead of worrying about a male-bodied being and a female-bodied being having a flirtation, why not consider the fact that Cas and Meg are pretty damned queer themselves? Meg isn’t a woman. She isn’t a “she.” Meg is a demon who happens to prefer possessing pretty girls, but has been a dude at least twice that we know of. Castiel isn’t a man. He isn’t a he. Castiel is an angel, a soldier like Meg, who found the most willing and faithful vessel.Oh, and he’s been a little girl once.
A non-woman and a non-man who are built to protect/destroy human beings engaged in a very personal, intimate, human moment.
What about that is suggestive of a “body of lifestyle norms”? At which point did Meg fulfill her “natural role in life” as a card-carrying member of the vagina club? When did the show indicate Cas could just be happy if he made her his woman and left Dean and Naomi and the fight behind?
I like the word queer. I always have. It’s a great word.
Since its emergence in the English language in the 16th century (related to the German quer, meaning “across, at right angle, diagonally or transverse”), queer has generally meant “strange”, “unusual”, or “out of alignment”.
That sounds about right for a demon that’s “a little bit good” and an angel that’s “a little bit bad.”
They connected on an intimate level and overcame the fact that they should want nothing more than to destroy each other. Cas and Meg do not have millions of years of evolution encouraging them to lock body parts or any sort of social expectation to be together. It’s kind of an abomination, I’d imagine. There’s no particular reason they should have any attraction to each other at all.
And yet, in the right context and certain circumstances, an attraction bloomed and they brought each other a little bit of pleasure and maybe love. They prove that when you strip everything away, all that matters is the person inside. That’s why queer representation is important. Because love is love, people are people, pleasure is pleasure, and regardless of the packaging, all that matters is that we all come together.
Incidentally, Sam chose Dean over his unicorn. Cas did the same when he left Meg in Sam’s “protection” without a backward glance. He didn’t even stop to make sure she was okay! Destiel isn’t in any danger for the same reason Sam will never leave Dean. Because they’re all pretty codependent on each other( and their mutual loyalty and love chaining them together). That’s what the show is about. How can Dean’s relationship with Sam maximize Dean’s pain? How can Dean’s relationship with Cas.maximize Dean’s pain? Nothing will ever get in the way of that. And love is the only thing that can hurt Dean. If he didn’t love Cas, we wouldn’t have drama. And we know Cas loves Dean because otherwise his decision to not kill Dean wouldn’t make sense.
So why not be happy that one time, Cas got to enjoy the simple pleasure of a pretty hot kiss, and one time, Meg got to enjoy the simple pleasure of being cared for.
Why not appreciate the light moment before THE SHOW TRIED TO MURDER US GUYS THE WHOLE EPISODE WAS DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE OUR PAIN EVERYBODY HE KILLED DEAN A THOUSAND TIMES I CAN’T EVEN
AND DEAN WAS READY TO DIE BUT HE WAS STILL SCARED, STILL TRIED TO STOP CAS IN THE VERY END. MY FEELINGS
Anyway, stop using heteronormative to describe one of the queerest relationships on television. Cas and Meg didn’t get married and start pumping out babies, they treated each other with respect and developed a fondness and friendship that transcended pretty rigid social conditioning and expectations (and some madness and torture for good measure).
